(NSOF-02) NATO SOCC PLANNING COURSE

Description

SOCC Planning Course

As the Comprehensive Operational Planning Directive (COPD) is applicable for NATO planning at the strategic and operational levels, there is the potential to adapt it to the component level. Special Operations Component Command (SOCC) will be required to adjust its planning efforts and procedures to effectively contribute to the planning process. For the SOCC, this implies the early dispatch of liaison elements, especially the special operations planning and liaison element (SOPLE), to ensure timely and accurate integration of SOF into the COPD planning process at all levels simultaneously.

The main focus of this 9-day course is on understanding, applying and executing the planning process on the component command level. After 2 full days of explaining lectures you will become an integral part of practical exercises (PE’s) firstly on specific phases/ steps of the process during week one.

During a 40 hour PE mainly during week 2, you will undergo the whole planning process, so that at the conclusion of the course you will be able to contribute efficiently and effectively as a member of a SOPLE as a LO or during the planning efforts of a SOCC HQ.
