The SOAC AOC Course is designed to instruct students how to plan, execute, and battle-track special air operations in support of the SOCC.
The J35 phase of the course focuses on the mission enablers and the concept of operations (CONOPS) development and approval processes. In addition to an internal SOCC/SOAC perspective, the course also covers the coordination and delivery of support to higher headquarters, component commanders and subordinate units.
The J33 phase of the course focuses on SOCC/SOAC level battle-tracking and harmonisation of SOF effect within a common battlespace. Emphasis is placed on JOC/AOC processes and products that contribute to a commander's decision making process, battle rhythm and situational awareness. Students will learn how the SOCC/SOAC monitors, assesses, directs, synchronises and harmonises in support of the employment of special operations air, maritime, and ground task groups within the battlespace.
The course is conducted in large group plenary lessons, in small group practical exercises, and as a large group practical exercise in concert with the SOCC JOC Course (NSOF-03).
