Course Information

NATO SOF Instructor Qualification Course (NSIQC)

The NATO Special Operations Forces (SOF) Instructor Qualification Course (NSIQC) is designed to equip NATO Allied Special Forces Command (SOFCOM) and Allied Centre's of Excellence educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively design, implement, assess and evaluate, and manage blended learning environments in a multinational cross-cultural NATO setting.  This course provides a comprehensive approach to adult learning methodologies through a combination of face-to-face instructions and online learning components.  Participants will learn to integrate a learning management system (LMS), digital tools, and resources into their instructional and briefing strategies to enhance learning engagement and collaboration.

The course uses a series of assessments. such as discussion boards, interactive virtual instruction demonstrations, and summative test.  In the RL Phase, assessment focuses on informal, formative classroom discussions, small-group activities, and self-reflection journals; and in formal, summative assessments like the facilitated group discussion and capstone exercise.

Duration: Distance Learning: 3 weeks with two-50-minute instructor-led sessions (first and last day); Residential Learning: 5 days

Course Aim

Learners will apply a range of instructional strategies and practices to plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate engaging lesson plans relevant to their national and NATO Alliance staff function.  Additionally, the course curriculum will prioritize active learning, engagement and collaboration, and integration of technology while ensuring that NATO SOF educators are well-equipped to meet the diverse needs of the learners.

Objectives

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

·         Define the NATO SAT concept.

·         Apply adult learning principles to instructional strategies.

·         Identify learning styles and apply experiential learning model.

·         Facilitate engaging, guided group discussion sessions.

·         Apply critical and creative thinking to learning.

·         Communicate and collaborate to a cross-cultural, joint, multinational NATO environment.

·         Construct effective learning objectives using Bloom's Taxonomy.

·         Create course assessment materials.

·         Practice individual and group feedback and coach each other.

·         Create and facilitate an engaging and interactive lesson plan.
